Antioxidant action and microflora modulation of Vitachelox^® in subjects with acne-prone skin

Vitachelox^® is a multi-component powder containing three botanical standardized extracts rich in polyphenols, which exerts a protective action on the skin thanks to its antioxidative, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. A placebo-controlled trial has been conducted to compare the changes induced by a Vitachelox^®-containing product and a placebo cream in the skin resident flora of 20 acne-prone subjects. We also investigated the antioxidant properties of Vitachelox^®, by assessing its antioxidant power in vitro compared with butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), a standard antioxidant.
