Complife & University of Pavia for Foodnet Project

Published On: 16 November 2023

Between 2017 and 2021, Complife took part to The Food Social Sensor Network (FoodNet) project promoted by Regione Lombardia and aimed at meeting the nutritional needs of the free-elderly living in Milan (Italy) aged ≥ 65 years.

Specifically the project had the objective to provide new food products more suited to the specific needs of consumers, as well as short- and long-term food policies to reduce the risk of food insecurity in the elderly.

COMPLIFE contributed to the part of the project in charge of University of Pavia by providing the facilities of our Medical Centre in Milano and working together with the researchers of University of Pavia in assessing the relationship between epicardial fat (EF), an indicator of cardiovascular risk, and Insulin Resistance (IR) in Italian free-living elderly.

This is the only study evaluating these factors in healthy elderly, while most of the studies have investigated EF and IR in diseased populations.

The study was published by GeroScience on 19 October 2023.
