Soap Chamber Patch Test
The Soap Chamber test is aimed to classify a toiletry/household product as well tolerated (mild) or irritant and/or to compare soaps and detergents on the basis of their relative mildness/irritancy potential.
A diluted solution of the test product is applied on the volar surface of the forearm for 5 consecutive days by means of a Finn chamber.
On the first experimental day each subject undergoes a 24 hours patch application, while in the following 4 days a 6 hours exposure is performed. Skin reactions (redness, swelling and dryness) are assessed by a highly trained assessor (dermatologist) up to 72 hours after last patch removal.
