Skin Irritation and Corrosion:
Topical exposure to chemicals can lead to adverse skin effects.
Depending on the severity and reversibility of the response it is possible to distinguish between skin corrosion and irritation. Corrosive substances irreversibly damage the skin, while irritant substances lead to a reversible local inflammatory reaction. In vitro test methods, including assays based on reconstructed human epidermis technology (RHE), are alternative to in vivo tests and the results are completely comparable for the substances classification.
Our testing services include:
- In Vitro Skin Irritation: Reconstructed Human Epidermis (RHE) Model Test – OECD 439 (EpiskinTM, EpidermTM and SkinEthicTM test methods); IRRITECTION assay system
- In Vitro Skin Corrosion: Human Skin Model Test – OECD 431 (EpiskinTM, EpidermTM, SkinEthicTM EpiCS®(EST-1000); CORROSITEX® – OECD 435
