This year was signed by the return of live exhibitions and the Complife team was present to many events so far that we wanted to share a quick guide to all the trends that we spotted during our presence at trade shows.
Complife team participated to: In Cosmetics, Cosmoprof, CosmetoTest, Cosmetic Business
GREEN BEAUTY / BLUE BEAUTY
These trends take into consideration the impact that all products have on our planet, considering both earth and sea.
You can read (link above) a recent article about potential impact of sunscreen on oceans and what Complife can do for formulators.
WATER-CONSCIOUS FORMULATION & SOLID COSMETICS
Water is a very limited resource and will be even more so in the future, we spotted many solid products or products that use less water to be produced and consumed.
SUSTAINABLE COSMETICS (this is a topic of many Talks)
What is really a sustainable cosmetic? Many many facets of this topic were discussed in the SUSTAINABILITY CORNER at InCosmetics. We got it clear that no brand should forget this value when formulating or producing.
Personalization continues to grow, in fact consumers seek solutions developed to their specific needs. We have spotted many tech innovations that can facilitate this kind of new products.
SKINIMALISM – 2 minutes beauty
In contrast to what was the “Korean beauty routine”, consumer today seek more and more practical beauty routines that include less products and take less time.
This supports the above trend of Skinimalism – we spotted many products with multiple use both in the make-up market and in the beauty-care market. To save time, energy and most of all create less waste.
NATURE CENTRIC PRODUCTS/OLD-AGE RITUALS
As consumers want to come back to nature, also natural ingredients and ancient rituals or remedies grow in importance in cosmetics (and can have an interesting storytelling potential)
The growing importance of mental health, that is even more felt after this difficult pandemic period, leads to the conception of body-positivity treatments that focus on beauty improvement but also (and even more importantly so) on delivering mood-enhancing moments.
(Re)create ingredients without impact on the planet is now possible thanks to science (Biotechnology in particular). In this way a company can create ingredients in Lab imitating nature and without being heavy on our environment.ì
