With the success of this year In Cosmetics Global, in Barcelona, where our team had the chance to meet many clients and discuss about future projects together, we also want to bring back a recap of the main spotted trends by our international team.
POSITIVE AGEING/WELL AGEING
(Instead of anti-ageing) is a very present trend with the aim to switch the focus on general wellbeing for consumers, that can see beauty under another light and feel pleased and fulfilled with their skin according to their age.
(and evaluations) is another of the arising trending topics. This means that the use of some cosmetics could (and should) have a more profound effect on the consumer, that surpasses the physical kind of effect. And this result is determined by the product’s experience. New testing methods are being formulated for this kind of evaluation through perception.
A macro trend that was already present in the previous years but will be consistently present as consumer awareness and consciousness toward this topic is increasing.
A particular focus has been given on upcycling the products ingredients, so that what could be considered as waste is now a new resource, that can lead to a virtuous reusing cycle.
Another trend spotted in this category has been green and blue beauty, that goeas toward the conception of products that does not impact on environment and oceans, as sunscreen biodegradable products.
Waterless products, such as solid products, are a growing trend, already spotted last year but becoming stronger and stronger as water is quickly becoming an very limited resource.
Finally, even multi tasking products can be considered part of this category as they condense in 1 only product more uses, so that there is much less products around that can do harm to the planet, this trend responds to the overall need to consume less, and thus impact less on the environment.
MICROBIOME & EXPOSOME
“The skin aging related to the exposome is an emerging concept in cosmetics.
It is an holistic concept that introduces products, ingredients, and testing protocols that go beyond the classic schemes of today’s cosmetics.”
Subject of Complife’s Speech this is a constant trend that is growing as more and more studies are being taken further, obviously also by our team.
You can read our studies at the links below…and stay tuned as our researchers are studying further development of this topic!
MICROBIOTA IN THE HUMAN FACE:
Omic sciences was another topic of Complife Speech, this kind of investigation has been introduced as a solution to see more clearly into one person skin. This analysis through the skin can help companies to understand what is specifically that their product does or can potentially do, for a more relevant insight into the market.
Complife has already developed a team specialized on this kind of testing techniques and will be happy to further explain this theme to its customers.
